OUR DIPLOMAS AND INNOVATIVE COURSES
EVE – Evolving Education is an e-learning platform that offers three courses of next-generation online diplomas courses, dedicated to the theoretical and practical teaching of minimally invasive image-guided surgery, with the ambition of becoming an international reference. This includes developing a platform that enables the rapid integration and dissemination of digital simulation tools in online curricula and assessment processes, and to create a range of innovative digital simulators adapted to the needs of large-scale education and accessible to a majority of participants.
MASTER IN SURGICAL ENDOSCOPY (2 YEARS)
A living platform to unlock creativity!
Today majority of surgical diseases, particularly digestive diseases, can be approached in some type of minimally invasive fashion. Modern digestive medicine needs leaders with endoscopic skills that are well defined.
This program presents a unique opportunity for surgery and gastroenterology residents, fellows and practicing physicians to learn basic and advanced endoscopic skills to form a foundation in the practice of flexible endoscopy while introducing cutting edge techniques such as ESD, POEM, endoscopic suturing, ERCP and EUS. The curriculum can be customized according to the student’s background, experience and needs. Students can choose between CME courses, a yearlong university diploma and a 2 –year master degree.
Didactic content will be presented on-line and complemented by an extensive hands-on practice using simulators, inanimate and animate models and clinical experience to achieve demonstrable competency in endoscopic surgery. Clinical exposure and practice will be obtained either at the IHU and its partners clinical centers or at the student’s home institution.
MASTER IMAGE-GUIDED THERAPY (2 YEARS)
The Image-Guided Therapy program covers the entire spectrum of diagnostic surgical and interventional radiology. The curriculum is designed for trainees (radiologists or surgeons) to acquire the principles and advanced techniques in abdominal interventions in adults.
The didactic content will be presented on-line by world experts. Hands on practice will take place on site utilizing the IHU’s state of the art training platform. The curriculum can be customized according to the student’s background, experience and needs. Students can choose between CME courses, a yearlong university diploma and a 2 –year master degree. Clinical exposure and practice will be obtained either at the IHU and its partners clinical centers or at the student’s home institution.
MASTER B.E.S.T.T. (Business Engineering Surgical Technologies Transfer) – HEALTHCARE INNOVATION MASTER (2 YEARS)
The Health care innovation program is meant to inspire and equip aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue a passion in medical innovation. This web-based interactive curriculum focuses on the combination of cutting-edge technology, a global outlook, and practice-oriented teaching and learning, with a desire to make an impact on both national and global scales.
The program is open to any surgeon, engineer, scientist or business and economics graduate wanting to learn how to drive innovation in medicine in a unique environment that combines experimental and clinical research facilities, internationally renowned training courses taught by world experts, on-site prototyping capabilities, and access to a concept incubator. The curriculum can be customized according to the student’s background, experience and needs. Students can choose between a one-week boot camp and a 2 –year master degree.

UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA IN SURGICAL ENDOSCOPY (1 YEAR)
Over the past twenty years, surgery and endoscopy have changed dramatically. A new discipline, using rigid as well as flexible endoscopes for therapeutic purposes, is gradually emerging. It therefore seems essential to provide training in surgical endoscopy.
The educational objective of this University Diploma is to acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of flexible endoscopic surgery to improve care management of patients subject to complications in gastrointestinal or hepatobiliary surgery or requiring postoperative endoscopic treatment.
The course is designed to provide an educational program in surgical endoscopy, through sequential steps including both theoretical and practical training. Its curriculum is organized over one academic year in 4 progressive learning modules. The exam takes place at the end of the course. Each module is evaluated through a multiple choice questionnaire for the theoretical part and with a training supervisor for the practical part allowing access to the next module, meeting the module deadlines.
- Theory (Online & On-Site): 100H
- Practice: 50H
- Clinic: 150H
- Digestive surgeons or gastroenterologists
- 6th semester residents, chief residents, medical assistants
- Practitioners from private or public institutions
- Number of participants: 34 participants
The 2021-2022 pre-registrations are open.

UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA IN SURGICAL ULTRASOUND (1 YEAR)
The information provided by medical imaging has taken an important position in diagnostic processes and therapeutic decision-making in modern medicine. Medical imaging includes heavy imaging equipment (medical scanner, magnetic resonance) which are in a constant state of evolution in order to provide more accurate information. Medical imaging also comprises a lightweight technology which is mobile, free from temporal and spatial constraints, non-invasive, and harmless to the patient, providing a dynamic real-time information that can be repeated indefinitely: the ultrasound.
Radiologists and ultrasound technicians (=sonographers) usually perform examinations in a centralized medical imaging department. There is, however, an increasing need for this technology in other areas such as at the bedside of the patient, within surgical care units, intensive care units, emergency units and finally in operating rooms. Many clinical situations can benefit from a real-time information that will immediately impact and optimize the therapeutic approach, or even guide some therapeutic gestures. Ultrasound can really represents the stethoscope of surgeons, intensive care doctors and emergency doctors.
Medical imaging, in all its forms, has gradually developed an interventional approach that allows it to join the circle of surgeons using images to guide a therapeutic gesture, just like the flexible or rigid surgical endoscopy for instance.
The University Diploma in Surgical Ultrasound aims to familiarize medical specialties, dealing with digestive diseases, with interventional and diagnostic ultrasound by making them aware of the practice and potentialities of ultrasound through a one-to-one mentoring with radiologists.
The purpose of this University Diploma is to teach candidates about the basic principles of ultrasound and the handling of the ultrasound scanner but also to give them the necessary skills to efficiently integrate ultrasound in their daily practice.
It meets the needs of surgeons to include ultrasound imaging in the pre-, per- and post-operative management of their patients.
