What is an IHU ?
7 University Hospital Institutes (IHU) were created as part of the “Investing for the Future” program to strengthen the attractiveness of France in the field of medical research.
IHU are highly specialized campuses of excellence, with flexible and reactive governance, whose mission is to invent the medicine of tomorrow is invented, combining the best public and private teams, and fully integrating patient care, translational research, education and innovation.

The State reinvests in the Strasbourg University Hospital Institute (IHU)
Based on the recommendations by the international jury of the National Research Agency, the IHU steering committee has decided to grant IHU Strasbourg an additional funding of € 13 million for the 2020-2024 period.
The jury was impressed by the achievements and excellence of IHU Strasbourg’s internationally recognized program, which fully integrates healthcare, translational research, education and technology transfer.
The jury highlighted the effective collaboration established with the IRCAD, the University of Strasbourg and the Strasbourg University Hospitals, emphasizing the IHU capacity to translate research into innovation for patient care and to boost regional and national economy. « The IHU has built a dynamic and well-resourced approach to valorization and industrial collaboration. It exhibits a clear strategy to create value and clinical impact from its research with impact on both patients and the economy »
