The IHU Strasbourg is a multidisciplinary institute dedicated to the creation and dissemination of innovative image-guided therapies guided by imaging for optimized, safe, and personalised patient care.
Our vision is to establish a new standard of care for surgical patients, taking into account the entire journey from preparation for the intervention to the return to normal life, providing them with the best quality of life possible.
Institute’s missions focus
The Institute’s missions focus on four key pillars: patient care, translational research, education, and technology transfer.
These missions include improving patients’ quality of life, researching new treatments, standardization, industrial skills, and training and disseminating knowledge to support the ongoing development of tomorrow’s medicine.

Pancreatic Cancer: A study by the IHU Strasbourg shows how AI helps specialists detect small pancreatic lesions
Presented at ESGE Days 2026 by Dr. Julieta Montanelli, a study by the IHU Strasbourg shows that integrating the mAI Companion AI system increases the accuracy of detecting small pancreatic lesions from 70.5% to 82.0%. Programme for Future Investments (PIA)
The IHU is part of the “Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir” (Programme for Future Investments) and benefits from financial support managed by the French National Research Agency (ANR) under the reference code ANR-10-IAHU-02. The aim of this programme was to develop translational research and its tech transfer through centres of excellence, equalling the best international institutions in terms of research, care and training.
