the adventure begins
1994
At the dawn of the 90s, at a time when industrial production was giving way to the digital age, the field of surgery was preparing for an inevitable transformation, and it was against this backdrop that Professor Jacques Marescaux took the initiative of founding a revolutionary research and training institute. In 1994, the IRCAD was inaugurated within the University Hospitals of Strasbourg.

the building comes out of the ground

A new chapter is opening with the creation of a 13,000 m2 building, directly connected to Strasbourg's New Civil Hospital and the IRCAD.
This building is the central point where the Institute's clinical, experimental and teaching activities converge.
